Summer Friday & Healing – Celebrate!

0

I was blessed today with a Summer Friday – and what perfect timing! The week has been an interesting and busy one…there was the ankle incident (not so good), and then I was promoted at work (celebrate!). My ankle is healing quite nicely – still swollen but significantly less pain. I managed to do about 50 mins of Vinyasa yoga this morning.

Every time I do yoga I think of how I should do it more often – it helps me feel centered, works muscles that running tends to miss and helps with flexibility and strength. But usually I only have time for one or the other (running vs. yoga), and running always wins. What to do?

After my yoga (done with my a/c turned off to simulate hot yoga :) ), my delicious usual breakfast followed – Kashi Go Lean mixed with Barbara’s Shredded Spoonfulls, organic strawberries and almond milk.

Then came coffee and preparation for some good beach time (afterall, that’s what Summer Friday’s are for, right?). My goal was to get some decent ocean swimming in – cardio with no pressure on the foot.

Stepping on to the beach is always like a breath of fresh air.

I got there pretty early and managed to get in some pretty hard swimming. I always forget how tiring it is! This girl definitely won’t be thinking of trying tri’s anytime soon :) Hehe.

Besides the lure of playing in the water hard open water swimming, I was also excited to get to the beach and finish this:

That’s right, I’ve finally been sucked in to the Twilight phenomenon. And I effing love it (and Edward, I must say).

I was pooped by the time I got home, and threw together a huge salad with arugula, romaine, yellow/red bell peppers, cucumber, plum tomato, avocado, carrots, goat cheese, grapes and a hard-boiled egg. LIT-erally a little of everything I had in the fridge.

And it was delicious with homemade dressing – balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, pepper and olive oil.

Hope everyone has a great evening! And once again, stay cool!

Question: Do you do yoga?  Why, what kind, and how often?
